Clean Tech Open Favorites

June 25, 2009

clean-tech-open-logo01I may or may not be a volunteer with the California Clean Tech Open.  I tried to register a while ago, but their website had problems, but then I got an email to all volunteers saying in effect “we’ll contact you all real soon now, we’re busy” so maybe I am a volunteer?  In any case, I’m a fan and I’m happy to be on a mailing list that received the announcement this week about the 2009 California Semifinalists.  By definition, all the semifinalists are sure to be very cool, but here are my favorites so far.

I started with the Energy Efficiency Category and fell for Powerzoa.  The little bit of info on their website is compelling but I admit that the cute form factor of the plug is what got me.  Likewise, the artistic description of Ecolithic Homes captures my imagination and makes me eager to learn more, but they have no website that I can find yet.  GreenPyro is my next favorite, obviously because of the name (all my pyro relatives should go work there) but also because I’d like to understand better exactly what they are doing.

That is it so far.  I cannot read through the brief descriptions of fifty companies all at once.  But what I’ve read so far is tantalizing.
