Commute Scenes

July 18, 2009

Just finished my second week at Energy Solutions.  Since we were empty nesters while both kids were at camp, I was able to work in the office 4 days a week.  But I don’t think I’ll do that very often – too exhausting!  Though the second week I took the early train home on Thursday (really early, it leaves OKJ at 2pm) and ran some errands, made dinner.

Two or three long days are ok, though, even great.  I love taking the train and working on it.  The time flies and I have to move quickly to get off when I get to my station or be swept along to the next one, a detour that would take many hours.

The scenery varies from beautiful to dumpsters, with everything in between.  Here are a few of the better scenes.  I’ll post the ugly as well sometime.  I usually look up just when a great picture goes by and my camera is either not with me or with me but buried in a bag.

I’ve always heard that the red color is due to brine shrimp, and this wikipedia page agrees, though it appears to document local lore without any substantial references to actual data.

And one of the many examples of beauty in the midst of man-made debris on my walk from the station to the office.  Note the miniature rose next to the flaming gladiola.  Each of them was perfect.
